Who can use the repository and how much does it cost?

The DARIAH-DE repository can be used by all researcher of humanities and cultural sciences. The use is free, you just need to have an instutional Account or an DARIAH account. If you intend to publish more than 100 GB we ask you to contact us under info@de.dariah.eu.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is saved on the DARIAH-DE Storage. The storage is operated by the Humanities Data Centre in Göttingen.

First you will upload your data via the  Publikator into the "DARIAH-De OwnStorage". Only you will have access to this area. During the publishing process (which you need to start) your data will be copied to the DARIAH-DE PublicStorage. The PublicStorage is world wide accessible and the data can't be deleted. After the publish process you may want to remove the collection from the OwnStorage. The data is still available via the PublicStorage.

Why should I use the DARIAH-DE Repository and not simply the well-known Git?

The DARIAH-DE Repository is a research repository for research data from the Arts and Humanities. Individual Scholars can publish their data, to ensure their long-term persistence and referenceability. To ensure this, data in the DARIAH-DE Repository is stored for at least ten years by the operating public institutions and is referenceable using DOIs.

While version control software, such as git, svn and others, use the same terminology, they have a different purpose: They allow the storing and management of changes to a (shared) source code base for software. Commercial developer platforms, such as Bitbucket, GitHub and Gitlab, offers possibilities to share this code. However, they advise to store releases in (generic) research repositories.

How long will my files be saved?

The Humanities Data Centre guarantees the storage for 10 years after publishing the data.

Can I delete my data?

After you have published your data you can't delete your data.

What is the Publikator?

The Publikator is a web interface for uploading and publishing you data into the DARIAH-DE repository. Please have a look and the FAQ for the Publikator and the documentation.

Who to contact in case of abuse?

Please contact info@de.dariah.eu.
